Microlearning threads

The Microlearning threads page is where Microlearning threads are managed. It can be accessed through the IOMAD dashboard:

Go to the IOMAD dashboard.
Choose the company you'd like to edit from the Select a company dropdown (or use the company selector at the top right of the page).
Click on the Microlearning threads tab.
Select Microlearning threads.

Configuring Microlearning threads

The page itself displays a list of all existing Microlearning threads.

The Import button allows Microlearning threads to be imported from one company to another.

Creating a Microlearning thread

Microlearning threads can be created by clicking the Add button toward the top of the page. This will open a page that allows the admin to edit the settings of the new thread; of these, only a unique name is required.

Once a Microlearning thread is created, the admin is returned to the Microlearning threads page, and may take any of a number of actions relating to the thread(s).

Actions

Each microlearning thread has the actions Edit thread, Manage nuggets, Thread schedule, Manage thread users, Clone thread and Delete thread. These are found in the Actions column on the right of the page.

The Edit thread button allows the admin to change the same details as when creating a Microlearning thread.

Manage thread users will take the admin to the Manage thread users page.

The Thread schedule is the date from (and also, optionally, to) which the thread is enabled.

The Manage nuggets is where much of the main functionality of the Microlearning thread is established, as described in the Microlearning nuggets section below.

Microlearning nuggets

A Microlearning thread nugget are where Microlearning threads are connected to a specific course section or module. Microlearning threads are made up of a sequence of these.

Microlearning nuggets can be created by clicking the Add button on the Microlearning nuggets page. These settings can be changed later by clicking their cog wheel in the actions column of the Microlearning nuggets page.

Thread Groups

Thread groups are groups of users assigned to a Microlearning thread.

They can be created by clicking the Manage thread groups on the Microlearning threads page, then clicking Create new group.

Once a group has been created, clicking the Assign thread groups by CSV button will allow the admin to upload a CSV to assign users to the group(s). This CSV should possess the following columns:

username: The user to be added to the thread group (necessary if email is not provided).
email: The email of the user to be added to the thread group (necessary if username is not provided).
thread: The Microlearning thread that the user is to be assigned to.
group: The Microlearning thread group that the user is to be assigned to.
